Introduction: My Wake-Up Call at 25
There are two kinds of people in this world.
- Those who dream about where they want to go.
- Those who have already arrived there in their minds.
The difference isn’t talent. It isn’t luck. It isn’t even opportunity. The difference is simple: one group speaks, thinks, and acts as if they’ve already made it, while the other group is still hoping it might happen someday.
I didn’t understand this truth until I was 25 years old. At that point, I was broke—not just financially broke, but broke in my thinking. I was broke in my speaking. I was broke in my actions. I had pennies in my pocket and nothing but wishes in my head.
And then something remarkable happened.
I met a man who changed everything for me. He didn’t give me money. He didn’t give me a job. He gave me something far more valuable: a new way of thinking about myself and my future.
He looked me in the eye and said something I’ll never forget:
“You’re not broke. You’re just temporarily without funds.”
At first, I thought he was just trying to make me feel better. But then he explained: “The person you are today is not the person you have to be tomorrow. If you want to change your tomorrow, you have to start changing how you see yourself today.”
That was the moment I discovered the power of mental arrival.
What Is Mental Arrival?
Mental arrival is when you stop seeing yourself as someone trying to become successful and start seeing yourself as someone who already is successful—just working on the details.
It’s when you stop hoping for a better life and start expecting it.
It’s when you stop asking, “What if it works?” and start asking, “How can I make it work better?”
Most people wait for their circumstances to change before they change their thinking:
- “When I get the promotion, then I’ll feel confident.”
- “When I have more money, then I’ll act successful.”
- “When I lose the weight, then I’ll feel good about myself.”
But that’s backwards.
The successful person changes their thinking first—and then their circumstances follow.
📖 “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7
The Power of Mental Arrival in History
This isn’t just theory. Every great achievement in history started with mental arrival.
- The Wright brothers were flying in their minds long before they ever built their airplane.
- Thomas Edison was illuminating the world in his thoughts before he invented the light bulb.
- Martin Luther King Jr. was living in his dream long before he shared it with the world.
Psychology confirms this. Researchers call it the self-fulfilling prophecy: what you believe about yourself influences how you act, and how you act shapes the outcomes you experience. (American Psychological Association)
Athletes have known this for decades. A landmark study in Psychology of Sport and Exercise found that visualization (mentally rehearsing success) significantly improves performance. (ScienceDirect)
In other words, when you arrive in your mind first, your life follows.
My Story: From Broke to Building Businesses
When I grasped this truth, everything changed.
I stopped introducing myself as someone “trying to make it” and started introducing myself as someone who was building something significant.
I stopped talking about my problems and started talking about my projects.
I stopped focusing on what I didn’t have and started focusing on what I was creating.
This mindset carried me through the early days of entrepreneurship. It gave me the courage to start and eventually sell two companies—Troiano Property Solutions and Troiano International—long before I built Rvv Corp, my digital marketing agency today.
It’s the same mindset I carry into coaching baseball. When I tell my son Vito (we call him “Big Money”) and his teammates to “see themselves as champions before they step on the field,” I’m teaching them mental arrival. And I’ve seen nine-year-olds transform their confidence and performance with this principle.
Step 1: Speak Like You’ve Already Arrived
Your words are not just sounds. They’re the programming language of your subconscious mind.
Every time you say, “I’m broke,” you’re programming your mind to stay broke. Every time you say, “I can’t,” you’re instructing your subconscious to limit your possibilities.
When I started changing the way I spoke, everything shifted.
Instead of saying: “I’m trying to build a business.”
I said: “I’m building a business that changes lives.”
Instead of saying: “I hope to be successful someday.”
I said: “I’m committed to creating significant value in the marketplace.”
People took me more seriously. They listened differently. They treated me differently.
📖 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” – Proverbs 18:21
Research Insight: Studies show that affirmations and self-talk directly impact confidence and performance. When you speak in alignment with your goals, your subconscious works to make them real. (Psychology Today)
Step 2: Think From the End Result
Most people think their way to their goals. Successful people think from their goals.
When I set a goal to build a million-dollar business, I didn’t ask, “How can I make a million?” Instead, I asked, “If I were already a millionaire, what decisions would I make? How would I spend my time? What kind of leader would I be?”
That shift changed everything.
- Instead of focusing on my current lack, I focused on the value I could create.
- Instead of worrying about obstacles, I looked for opportunities.
- Instead of seeing a gap too big to cross, I built a bridge one decision at a time.
📖 “Write the vision and make it plain… though it tarry, wait for it; it will surely come.” – Habakkuk 2:2-3
Research Insight: Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck’s work on the growth mindset proves that people who focus on who they’re becoming (not who they are today) achieve greater long-term success. (Mindset by Carol Dweck)
Step 3: Act With Certainty and Purpose
Mental arrival without action is just wishful thinking. Action is where dreams become reality.
I didn’t wait until I felt “ready” to act like a CEO. I acted like a CEO to become one. I invested in myself before the revenue matched it. I built professional materials, showed up with confidence, and made decisions as if success was inevitable.
The same principle applies everywhere:
- If your goal is fitness, act like a healthy person today.
- If your goal is wealth, act like an investor today.
- If your goal is leadership, act like a leader today.
Feelings follow actions—not the other way around.
📖 “Faith without works is dead.” – James 2:26
Step 4: Live It Before It Manifests
Here’s the hardest part: the gap.
There’s always a gap between when you start speaking, thinking, and acting like you’ve already arrived—and when your external results catch up.
During this season, your faith will be tested. People will question you. Some will mock you. Others will doubt you. But remember: they can only see where you are, not where you’re going.
When I was building my speaking career, I was living the reality before it manifested. I invested in marketing materials, spoke with confidence, and introduced myself as a speaker—long before the checks started coming in. And eventually, my external reality aligned with my internal commitment.
📖 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1
Research Insight: Neuroscience confirms that when you visualize and live as if, your brain builds new neural pathways that make success more likely. This is the science of neuroplasticity. (Verywell Mind)
Why Mental Arrival Works
- Spiritually: Faith precedes the miracle. You must believe before you see.
- Psychologically: Your subconscious aligns with your dominant thoughts and words.
- Practically: People treat you based on how you present yourself. Opportunities flow to confidence, not hesitation.
In other words: your external world is a reflection of your internal world.
Your Next Step
You’ve just learned the power of mental arrival:
- Speak like you’ve already arrived.
- Think from the end result.
- Act with certainty and purpose.
- Live it before it manifests.
But here’s the truth: mindset alone isn’t enough. You need systems, strategies, and structure to turn vision into reality.

Final Word
Mental arrival changed my life. It took me from being broke at 25 to building businesses, coaching championship teams, and leading a life of impact and faith with my family.
And if it worked for me, it can work for you.
Stop waiting for permission. Stop waiting for perfect circumstances. Stop waiting for “someday.”
Start speaking, thinking, and acting like the person you want to become—today.
Because arrival is not a matter of if. It’s only a matter of when.
Your future is waiting. The only question is:
Will you live it into existence?
